My Story The David Gomez's Walk
David Gomez II was shaped by hardship long before he became a community advocate. Raised in an environment marked by instability, addiction, and the daily struggle to survive, David watched his mother fall into the grip of drugs and street life.
As a young boy, he stepped into the role of a parent for his three sisters when one left the home and the others had nowhere else to turn. With no real means and no safety net, he learned early what it meant to face life’s hardest realities without support.
At 10 years old, David turned to God and found refuge in his church youth group. His faith became the foundation that carried him through the darkest moments of his childhood. Determined to provide for his sisters, he walked the streets every day searching for work until an Italian man named Sal offered him a small job handing out flyers just enough to help feed his family.
A single moment changed everything. While passing out flyers, David met Mike, the owner of Carpeteria. Ted & Mike saw something in him, took him home, and met David’s mother. That encounter became the turning point that shifted David’s life from chaos to stability. It was the first time someone stepped in with guidance, structure, and belief in his potential.
These beginnings forged a lifelong passion to serve families who are hurting, overlooked, or fighting silent battles. For 27 years, David has been a dedicated advocate in Clark County School District, working primarily in education and community support. His lived experience gives him a rare understanding of what many families endure poverty, instability, broken systems, and the quiet suffering that shapes a child’s future in today’s world.
As a father of 7 and a servant of The Most High GOD, David’s mission is rooted in truth, compassion, and unwavering commitment. He has spent decades helping students, parents, seniors, and vulnerable families navigate challenges with dignity and hope. His work reflects a deep belief that justice, opportunity, and support should never depend on where a child comes from, but on the community’s willingness to stand beside them, in hopelessness.
David Gomez continues to serve with the same fire that carried him through his youth, a determination to protect families from the hardships he once lived through community resources, and a promise to never give in to the evil forces that harm or exploit people.
His life is proof that FAITH IN GOD can rebuild what is broken, and a servant’s heart can transform entire communities.
